Kwila Deck Over Existing Concrete
PROJECT
New deck over existing concrete
KEY FEATURE
MATERIAL
Angular layout with multiple deck areas
Kwila hardwood
This existing concrete area had plenty of potential but wasn’t working as a proper outdoor space. The new Kwila deck sits over the concrete and creates a more usable area that connects better with the house.
The angular layout and multiple deck areas make the most of the section and give the homeowners more options for how they use the space.
More usable space. Better flow outside. And somewhere you’ll actually want to spend time.

Kwila Deck + Covered Outdoor Living
PROJECT
New deck and covered pergola
KEY FEATURE
Sheltered outdoor living area
MATERIAL
Kwila hardwood
Aaron built both the Kwila deck and the covered pergola so the space could be used more often, in more weather, and for more of the year.
The cover and deck work together to create a proper outdoor room that feels connected to the house rather than just a back step.
A more useful outdoor room for meals, friends, family and everyday living.

Garapa Deck + Wide Feature Steps
PROJECT
New deck with stepped transition
to the garden
KEY FEATURE
Wide layered feature steps
MATERIAL
Garapa hardwood
This deck shows how much difference the details can make. The new Garapa deck and wide feature steps turn a simple lawn edge into a proper place to sit and move between the house and garden.
The stepped layout and mitred corners give the deck a more finished, intentional look while still being practical to use every day.
Easy movement between the house, deck and garden, with steps that also become part of the space.
CURVED DECK

LINCOLN, SELWYN
Three Deck Areas, One Property
PROJECT
Three new deck areas
KEY FEATURES
Curved deck, spa deck + front-entry deck
MATERIAL
Kwila hardwood
One home. Three different outdoor areas. Each one needed to do a different job.
Aaron built three new Kwila deck areas around the property, including the curved deck, spa area and front-entry deck. Rather than trying to make one large deck do everything, the property now has separate spaces that work for different parts of everyday life.
The curved edge is a standout detail and shows what can be done when the deck is designed around the property rather than simply built as a rectangle.

SPA DECK
Using the same hardwood across all three areas gives the property a consistent look. Cleaning and oiling will help maintain the richer colour, while leaving Kwila untreated allows it to weather naturally.
Different spaces for the spa, entertaining, sitting outside and simply enjoying more of the property.

Two Decks, One Connected Outdoor Space
PROJECT
Two deck areas built and connected
MATERIAL
Kwila hardwood
KEY FEATURE
Two builds joined into one outdoor space
This project came together in stages. Aaron originally built one Kwila deck area, then was asked back to add a second and connect them into one space.
What had been separate outdoor areas now works as one larger, more flexible space that’s easier to move around and actually use.
Being asked back to complete the next stage was a nice vote of confidence, and it meant Aaron could make sure the new work tied naturally into what he had already built.
Two separate builds, now working together as one much more useful outdoor space.

Deck Extension + Better Access
PROJECT
Deck extension and improved access
MATERIAL
Kwila hardwood
KEY FEATURE
Level entry and wheelchair-accessible layout
This project started with a smaller patio and lawn that didn’t make the most of the section. Extending the deck and improving access from the house changed how the space could be used.
The new Kwila deck gives more room to sit, move and spend time outside, while the level entry makes it easier for everyone to get in and out.
More outdoor space, easier access from inside and a layout that works better for everyday life.
